Follow us inside-what do you see? What do you hear? What do you feel? : a vibrant learning environment, excited voices, a warm welcome and a love of learning. Langdale School is a great school. Carol Stallard is the principal of Langdale Free School and proud to be so.
Langdale School, previously an Independent School in Bispham received the news today that their funding agreement with the government has been agreed by Lord Nash, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Schools.
This means that the school, which has previously been fee-paying, will be accessible for free to the whole community. Class sizes of only 18 mean that children receive a lot of individual attention benefiting both their self-esteem and learning outcomes.
Admissions for September 2014 will open on September 2nd and parents will be able to apply for school places for 2014 through the local authority.
Principal Carol Stallard said “we’re delighted by this news which means that all school places for September are now fully confirmed. We are so excited to become Blackpool’s first Free School Langdale is a unique school, with a happy, family feel and outstanding results. My whole team have worked hard to make this happen and I am thrilled that we can now realise the dream to bring the high standards, family values, ethos and aspirations ingrained in Langdale’s 92-year history and traditions to the whole local community, regardless of their financial circumstance.”
Chair of Governors, Richard Rendell feels that “this now gives the parents and children of Blackpool the choice of small classes, where children benefit from the family atmosphere and individualised learning.”
Paul Maynard, MP for Blackpool North and Cleveleys said today “I wish Langdale Free School all the best going into the future. This is indeed a good day for Blackpool and the education of countless boys and girls. Langdale has had a first rate reputation as educators and long may that continue as a Free School.”
